Blue Bird (L’oiseau bleu)
Marc Chagall
- Paris, France 1968|
This color lithograph, adapted from a 1954 gouache by Chagall, was executed under his supervision by Charles Sorlier. It displays Chagall's characteristic dreamlike imagery: At left a large blue bird flies in front of the moon; at right is a green woman's face in profile, with flowers. These apparitions loom above a small town on the horizon.
